Rules: The competition is open for young pianists from every country. Prize winners from previous competitions are not allowed to participate in the same category again. The competition is split into two categories. Participation is only possible in one category.
- Category A: born after August 3th, 1996
- Category B: born after August 3th, 1991

Application: Online application from 1st January 2012 to 30th April 2012 at www.pianocompetition.org/application.
The application must contain the following:
a) a fully completed online-application form
b) a recent passport photo
c) mp3-files with audio-recordings by the applicant
(see Preliminary Judging and Repertoire A, Repertoire B)
If an online-application is not possible, application materials can be sent by express mail. Please contact the office for further details.
A preliminary judging based on the recordings will determine who may take part in the competition. The candidates’ name and nationality will be unknown to the jury during the preliminary judging. All prizewinners of former Ettlingen International Competitions for Young Pianists will be allowed to take part without submitting a recording.
Four weeks after the closing date, the results of the preliminary judging will be sent to all applicants. Together with the result of the preliminary judging, successful applicants will receive further information regarding the competition. Successful applicants are required to pay a participation fee of 80 €.
