Rules:
Young violinists up to the age of 16 years may take part in this competition. The competitors are divided into 4 categories: the definite classification of the competitors will be determined by the year of birth.
The international jury is appointed by the organiser according to the jury rules. The competitors have no right to present any objections against the composition of the jury.
The competition consists of two rounds. The obligatory compositions will be proclaimed in the Supplement of Organisation Rules. If a competitor reaches the second round he or she plays here a composition of his/her own choice lasting no more than:
- 6 minutes in the 1st category
- 10 minutes in the 2nd category
- 15 minutes in the 3rd and 4th category.
On exceeding this time limit the jury may stop the competitor even before he has finished his or her performance. Both the obligatory and the optional compositions have to be played by heart. The competitors play successively according to the lot numbers drawn before the opening of the respective category.
The competitors have to draw their lots for the 1st round punctually 15 minutes before the beginning of each category. If the competitor doesn't come in time for lot drawing he will not be admitted to the competition. Lot drawing for the 2nd round is held immediately after the announcement of results of the 1st round in each category.
A maximum of 15 competitors who attain the limit stipulated for the first rounds by the jury proceed to the second round. Those who do not proceed will receive a certificate of their participation in KHS. In the second round the jury is entitled to award the first to third prizes and honorable acknowledgement of the first to third degree.
After the close of the whole Competition the jury will proclaim the absolute winner of the Competition who is authorized to use the title "laureate of Kocian Violin Competition". The jury is authorised to award some additional specific acknowledgements. The competitor will take over their prizes and other awards at the gala Concert. If the competitor doesn't come to accept the prize this will be reclaimed by the organisers.
All the first prize-winners will perform at this Concert. The jury may appoint further competitors to perform at this Concert. The competitors will be informed about it at the result announcement of the second round and this decision is obligatory for them.
The organisers do not ensure piano accompaniment.
In case of any comments protests or eventual arguments the Organising Committee will make the final decision.
