Rules: The rules for the next competition will be available on the competition website.
Prizes: Winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes are awarded the title of “Laureate” and a diploma. Winners of the 4th and 5th prizes are awarded the title of “prize winner” and a diploma.
The teachers of the laureates and prize-winners are awarded with diplomas of appreciation.
The prize money in 2008 amounted to 11.000 USD. 3.400 USD for Category A and 7.600 for Category B.
Application: The application form must be sent by the deadline (date as postmark) with:
- A photograph of the participant (10x15)
- A copy of the participant’s birth certificate or passport
- A copy of the payment document confirming transfer of money in the amount of 50% of the participation fee.
The competition is preceded by a qualifying selection round based on video-, audio-cassette- or compact-disc recordings sent with the application. To take part in this selection, participants must provide recordings of performances of two compositions of their own choice. These compositions may not be part of the competition programme.
Participation fee: 80 USD (non-refundable)
The programme stated in the application must strictly conform to the order of the performance at the competition.
Background: The competition was founded in 1996 to acknowledge and pay tribute to the great accomplishments and contribution to Russian musical culture of this outstanding conductor. The competition is organised by the St. Petersburg School of Arts for Children named after E.A. Mravinsky with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, the Committee for Culture of the Government of St. Petersburg, and the Administration of Moskovsky District, St. Petersburg.

2nd prize – the Silver Violin – 5000 PLN
3rd prize – the Bronze Violin – 4000 PLN
4th prize – the Bronze Violin – 2000 PLN
5th prize – the Bronze Violin – 1000 PLN
Senior group – from 17 to 25 years of age
1st prize – the Golden Violin – 10000 PLN
2nd prize – the Silver Violin – 7000 PLN
3rd prize – the Bronze Violin – 4000 PLN
4th prize – the Bronze Violin – 3000 PLN
5th prize – the Bronze Violin – 2000 PLN
Apart from the prizes stipulated in the regulations, private persons and institutions may award other prizes.
