Background: Prémio Jovens Músicos is the annual competition of the Portuguese Broadcasting Organisation. It was founded in 1987 with the aim of finding and promoting the best music students. It was originally aimed at soloists but in 1990 a chamber music category was added in order to promote making music together.
The PJM celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Young Musician's Festival, from 6th to 8th October 2011 at the Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon.
