Rules: Competitors enter the regional competitions and the 1st prize winners are then invited to compete at the national finals. The competition categories change each year and there are various age groups.

Prizes: Scholarships, cash prizes for musical studies.

One prize winner is named the Young Music Talent of the Year and receives a scholarship of 5.000 €.

Background: The national competition is organised by the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland (SJMN). This was founded in 1986 in order to help young musicians with their musical development and their possible music career. It is active in organising concerts and festivals for young music talents across the Netherlands.
