The 52nd International Kocian Violin Competition 2010 in Ústí nad Orlicí, Czech Republic

The International Kocian Violin Competition has held from 5th – 8th May 2010. There were 59 participants, 32 from the Czech Republic and 27 from abroad, representing 10 countries – Singapore, Poland, Mongolia, Serbia, Russia, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Turkey, Slovenia, USA.

The international jury was headed by Pavel Hula from the Academy of Music in Prague, other members: Peter Michalica (Academy of Music Bratislava, Slovakia), Shizuka Ishikawa (virtuoso Nippon), Kveta Hasilova (conservatory Teplice), Jindriska Holotova (conservatory Plzen), Dana Vlachova (conservatory Prague) Adolf Sykora (Academy of Music Brno), Pavel Eret (Czech virtuoso) and Rafael Brom (the redactor of the Czech radio Vltava Prague).

The title 'Laureate of the Competition' was awarded to David Petrlik.

The candidates competed in four categories (up to 16 years old). The candidates played a set piece in the first round and a choice piece in the second round.

The level of all categories was high.
