ArsKosova Music Competition for Youth 2010

11.06.2010

National television and press were present to record the Grand Final of the ArsKosova Music Competition for Youth on 4th June in Prishtina. This competition is not yet a member of EMCY but we are working closely with the organisers, helping them to apply the EMCY Quality Standards and develop this regional competition into a truly international event.

Announcing the results of the competition

Over several days, the juries in the categories piano, violin, viola, violoncello, flute, clarinet, voice and guitar evaluated candidates from Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia in the seven age groups and awarded prizes according to a points system. The first prize winners who achieved the maximum of 100 points were invited to compete in the final concert for the Grand Prix. After each candidate had introduced themselves and performed their chosen piece, jury members from all categories submitted their anonymous votes which were revealed to the audience and candidates together in the packed Red Hall.

The winner of the Grand Prix was the violinist Dimitar Mihajlovski and special prizes from 'Kosovo: the young Europeans' and the composer Akil Koci were also awarded. Diplomas were handed out and participants, prize winners, teachers, parents, jurors and organisers celebrated together at a reception by the Red Hall.
