Results of the Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap 2011

The Norwegian national competition Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap (Norwegian Music Competition for Youth) has been held successfully from 25th to 27th November at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo (Norway).

The finals took place on Friday and Saturday in this year's categories woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, duo and ensembles.

On Saturday, the 26th November Miriam Helms Ålien (violin, UMM’s 'Musician of the year' 2010) Isabel Sanchez (guitar, 1st Prize Winner from Spain) and Jørgen Karlsen (saxophone, winner of the Norwegian Band Federation) gave a European Concert.

The prize-giving ceremony and a prize winner concert were held on Sunday. Six special inspiration prizes (each NOK 10.000) were awarded. The Trio Patetico was the winner of NOK 50.000 with the title Musician of the Year 2011.  The saxophonist Håvard Salvesen Njølstad became winner of the EMCY Prize. The concert was recorded and broadcasted by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK).
