Review of the Dexia Classics 2011

The finals of the national Belgian competition Dexia Classics were held successfully from 7th - 21st November 2011. This year's competition received 185 entries which, taking into consideration the ensembles, represents a record of 204 participants! 109 of them, 20% more than last year, reached the finals taking place in Brussels.

The candidates at the finals were judged by 20 different juries, each time consisting of specialists in the disciplines. For individual disciplines, 14 authors and composers have written commissioned works especially for the competition. dexia

Two participants received a certificate of participation; 60 second prizes (over 80% of points) and 47 first prizes (over 90% of points) were awarded in total. There were seven competitors participating in the categories Arts de la Parole and Création littéraire and 100 participants in the categories Musique and Création musicale.

The whole competition will be rounded off by a festival a the Théâre Royal de la Monnaie (Opera House, Brussels) on Saturday, 10th March 2012 at 14.00.
