Come Together in Zurich for Swiss Young Jazz Rock&Pop talents


Last Saturday 9 bands met for the second Swiss National Youth Competition Jazz Rock&Pop Come Together at the Jazzclub Moods in Zurich.

In each category one band was awarded with Best of Band Jazz or Best of Band Rock&Pop, in addition to attractive special prizes. Parents, teachers and the audience were warmly welcome to exchange opinions and ideas with the participating bands and the jury!

Nine bands qualified for this Come Together at Moods and were judged by nine jurors.
The Jury representing the category Jazz was formed of Hans Peter Kuenzle, Florian Heeb, Thomas Dobler, Urs Roellin and Gregor Frei.

Rock&Pop was judged by Martin Lehner, Daniel Schwarz, Claudio Cappellari and Christophe Rosset. The event was anchored by Urs Schnell.

The award Best of Band Jazz was given to the Bernese Band M’Adam(e), while the Band Funk Alliance from the Bernese Jura was awarded with Best of Band Rock&Pop.

Also M’Adam(e) was invited to perform at the Schaffhausen Jazz Festival 2014, while Funk Alliance was invited to perform at the Stanser Musiktage.

The Band BOBaDROP received the EMCY Prize.

The Jakob Kulke Jazz Quintett received a voucher for a Jazz class during the Arosa music classes 2014.

After this successful second SJMW Jazz Rock&Pop, the organisation is now continuing its tireless work for the promotion and support of young musicians in Switzerland and preparing for the 39th Swiss National Music Competition for Classical Music in March 2014.

Jazz, Rock and Pop talents aged 8 to 22 can already look forward to the next competition in 2014!
