Winners of the 50th Concertino Praga 2016


(source) Last January the winners of the 50th International Radio Competition for Young Musicians ‘Concertino Praga’ were selected. Competitors from many different countries like Germany, Russia, Austria, Latvia, Canada or Korea, to name but a few, tried their best to convince the international jury composed of Ivo Kahánek (piano), Leoš Čepický (guitar), Leonid Gorokhov (cello), Roman Patočka (violin) and Carsten Dufner (director of the MDR orchestra in Leipzig), as well as Gail Henry and Szilvia Becze who were the independent jury members nominated by the European Broadcasting Union.

This year the competition was opened to violinists, cellists, pianists and guitarists. The overall winner of the competition is Helena Karásková who will have a profile CD released by Czech Radio.

The Prize laureate is Maria Zaytseva (Russia) whose performance let the jury in such awe that she was awarded the EMCY Prize. The 1st prize for the cello category was also awarded to Maria Zaytseva (Russia), the 1st prize for the violin category to Isabella Perron (Canada), the 1st prize for the piano category to Elizaveta Kliuchereva (Russia), no prize was awarded for the guitar category.

All the winners will be able to show their skills and talents to the audience during the laureates concert on 10th June, where they will perform with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra at Rudolfinum. It will be followed by the South Bohemian Concertino Praga Festival from 13th to 17th June.

To celebrate the 50 years of the competition, a photo exhibition named Talent Is not Black and White was also displayed at the Galerie Vinohradská 12 , showing selected moments from last year tour.

The Concertino Praga competition reaches its goal to promote classical music and to introduce the best Czech and foreign generation of young talented musicians to the public.
