Preparations underway for the EMCY General Assembly 2010 in Heerlen, Netherlands

The main topics on the agenda at the EMCY Board’s first meeting of 2010 were the upcoming EMCY General Assembly from 16th – 19th April in Heerlen and EMCY’s 40th birthday celebration. EMCY President Frank Reich and Secretary General Claire Goddard then visited Heerlen the weekend after to visit the locations and make detailed plans together with the hosts at Schunck Glaspaleis. This is the stunning new home of the Heerlen music school and Charles Hennen Concours which are also celebrating significant jubilees in 2010.

EMCY’s birthday celebration will be held in Maastricht on 16th April and will involve prize winners from EMCY member competitions as part of as the Cultural Capital programme: a new relation between Cultural Capitals and EMCY. Other musical highlights will include a concert in the Heerlen Town Theatre featuring many different musical styles and crossovers, and the final of the Charles Hennen Councours for chamber music. It promises to be an exciting weekend fit to launch EMCY into the next 40 years of its existence....!
