The EM-Duo was founded in 2010 in Vienna by pianist Maximilian Karl Kromer and violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian. Since then the duo has already given several concerts in Austria and in 2011 it was awarded 1st Prize at the Österreichische Jugendmusikwettbewerbe Prima la Musica.

Maximilian Karl Kromer was born in Vienna. At the age of four he entered the Vienna Music School. From 2005-2010 he studied with Professor Susanna Spaemann until he was accepted as junior student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. As a soloist Maximilian has been awarded 1st Prize at the International Jenö Takács Competition and 2nd Prize at the International Nutcracker Competition in Moscow. Furthermore he has given numerous recitals throughout Austria and abroad. He performed in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow with the Russian Symphony Orchestra, in the Gasteig Hall in Munich as well as in the Concert Hall and Ehrbar Hall in Vienna.

Emmanuel Tjeknavorian was born in Vienna into a family of musicians. At the age of six he began playing violin with Professor P. Haykazyan and later studied with Professor A. Mkrtchyan. Currently he is studying with Professor A. Vinokourov and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in the class of Professor G. Schulz. When he was seven years old he made his debut with orchestra. Two years later he gave his first recital and since then he performed several times in different countries and played as a soloist accompanied by orchestras such as the Chamber Orchestra 'Musica Viva' at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire and the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. Furthermore Emmanuel has been awarded several prizes at international and national competitions including the International Nutcracker Competition in Moscow and the International violin Competition Andrea Postacchini in Italy. In 2011 he received 2nd Prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (Austria).
