Pianist Enrique Lapaz was born in Requena, near Valencia. He began his musical studies at the age of seven, at 'Mariano Sánchez Pérez', the Professional Conservatoire of Requena, where he was taught by Professor Joseph Mardon. He ended his time there by winning the Honorary Grade Award. He gave his first solo concert at the age of 16.
In 2006 Enrique was awarded first place in a competition to study at the Music College of Catalunya (ESMUC), where he became a pupil of Leonid Nikolaevich Sintsev and Rafael Salinas. He graduated with Honours. Since then, he has performed in numerous major concert halls, including the Auditorium Enrique Granados (Lleida), La Pedrera Auditorium (Barcelona), the Pau Casals Auditorium (El Vendrell), the Glazunov Hall (St. Petersburg), the Glinka Hall (St. Petersburg), the White Hall of Peterhoff Palace (St. Petersburg) and the Goldenweiser Museum Hall (Moscow).
He has been awarded prizes in a number of national competitions, such as 'Ruperto Chapi', 'Young Performers City of San Cugat', 'Youth Piano Interpreters of Catalonia' and the 'International Piano Competition of San Sebastián', at which he won 1st prize. He was also awarded the Anna Riera scholarship for the 2009/10 academic year.
Enrique has participated in various concert cycles and festivals on the Spanish music scene, including 'Young Performers of Chamber Music' in Madrid's National Auditorium, 'MusicamXXI' in Alicante, 'Joves Intèrprets' of Sitges, a number of concerts for the foundation 'Mas i Mas' in Barcelona, and the festival 'San Pedro Nights' in Seville.
In October 2007 he was invited to study at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in St Petersburg, where he proceeded to develop his talents further. During this period he made a recording in Moscow for the Russian Radio, as part of an initiative by the Scriabin Foundation.
Enrique is soon to release his first chamber music CD, 'De tres en tres', which includes works for piano trio by Piazzolla, Brahms and Bruch.
