Floor Le Coultre began playing the violin at the age of four having as her first teacher her aunt. When she was 14 she continued her violin studies with Joyce Tan in the Young Talent class of the Utrecht Conservatoire and since January 2008 she has worked with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho. Floor continued working with her at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague after receiving her Gymnasium diploma in July the same year.
Floor participated successfully in the Peter the Great Festival 2011 at the Summer Academy in Groningen (Netherlands) winning the Labberté-Hoedemaker Award. In the same year she became the Jong Musictalent of the year and received the EMCY Prize at the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland. As an addition to her violin studies she has taken part in master classes at the Heifetz International Music Institute (USA), the Centre d'arts Orford (Canada), the Kronberg Academy (Germany), the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival (Finland) and in Villefavard (France) with Patinca Kopec, Mauricio Fuks and Hagai Shaham amongst others.
Whether as a soloist or as part of different chamber music ensembles Floor has given many concerts in recent years. In February 2011 she made her debut in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam playing the solo in Ein Heldenleben (Op. 40) by R. Strauss which was broadcast live on radio. She also performed the Violin Concerto by M. Bruch and the Symphonie Espagnole (Op. 21) by E. Lalo. Together with the pianist Kanako Inoue she has given recitals and occasionally she plays in a piano trio and other chamber music groups.
Floor plays a French violin by Pierre Silvestre from 1858, lent to her by the Dutch National Foundation for Music Instruments.
