The Gerhard Quartet was formed in Catalonia (Spain) with the aim of becoming a solid chamber group in the musical world. They have worked with musicians such as the Quartet Casals, Heime Müller, Gerhard Schulz or Quatuor Ysäye. They continue their studies in the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, under Prof. Rainer Schmidt.
The Gerhard Quartet was awarded 1st Prize at the 2010 INJUVE award for classical music by the Spanish Ministery, at the International Competition of Chamber Music 'Ciutat de Vinaròs' and at the International Competition 'Paper de Música' in Capellades. In 2011 it received 2nd Prize at the Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes Intérpretes de Juventudes Musicales de España.
They were recently invited to play in the Segovia Festival of Music and the renowned festival 'Würzburg Mozartfest' in the season 'Aufgehende Sterne'. They have played in a large range of halls in Spain, such as the Maria Cristina Hall in Malaga or the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. The Gerhard Quartet was awarded 'Most Convincing upcoming ensemble 2011' prize by Jeunesses Musicales Germany at the International Chamber Music Campus in the Schloss Weikersheim, and has been selected to take part in the Pro-Quartet Festival Academy with Heime Müller in Pont-Royal (France).
Their concerts have been broadcasted by the RNE (Spanish National Public Radio) and the SWR (German Public Radio). Upcoming events include their debut in 'L'Auditori' in Barcelona (Spain).
