Ioana Cristina Goicea comes from a family of musicians. Her mother is Cristina Anghelescu, winner of the Sibelius Violin Competition and a renowned soloist.
Ioana Cristina started playing violin when she was four years old, having as her teacher her grandfather, Aurelian Anghelescu, an accomplished professor of violin, as well as her mother. Since 2007 she has studied with Professor Stefan Gheorghiu of the ‘Ciprian Porumbescu’ Music Academy in Bucharest (Romania). She is currently a student at the 'Dinu Lipatti' Music Lyceum in Bucharest under Professor Radu Popescu.
She has won 1st Prize at the International Kocian Violin Competition in Usti nad Orlici (Czech Republic), 3rd Prize at the Andrea Postachini Competition in Fermo (Italy), 4th Prize at the International Competition ‘Remember Enescu’ in Romania, 1st Prize at the George Georgescu International Violin Competition (Romania), 1st Prize at the 'Paul Constantinescu’ International Competition (Romania), 1st Prize at the 'Garabet Avachian’ Competition (Romania), and a diploma at the Romanian Union of Composers (Romania).
She has been a prize winner at the Romanian National Music Olympics every year since 2000 and a finalist at the Orange Romania National Competition.
Ioana Cristina has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Craiova Philharmonic Orchestra, the Botosani Philharmonic Orchestra and the Galati Symphonic Orchestra.
She appeared at the ‘George Enescu’ International Festival, as a soloist with the ‘Dinu Lipatti’ Musical College Orchestra, and has performed in China at the invitation of the state.
