Johanna Glaesel was born in Karlsruhe (Germany) and received her first piano lessons at the age of five, and her first violin lessons a year later. Since March 2008, she has been taught piano by Ani Aghabekyan, and violin by Prof. Sontraud Speidel.

Johanna has won 1st Prize at the regional and national rounds of Jugend musiziert eight times; was awarded 1st Prize at the Béla Bartók piano competition in October 2005, as well as at the Wolfgang Hofmann piano competition in June 2007. At the national ‘Little Schumann Competition’ in Zwickau (Germany) in March 2008, Johanna won 3rd Prize in the solo piano category.

In the ‘violin and piano’ category, she received 2nd Prize at the 52nd Youth Competition of DTKV in Stuttgart (Germany) in October 2007 (with Daniel Glaesel) and at the XXIII International Competition for Instrumentalists and Singers in San Bartolomeo al Mare (Italy) in July 2008 (with Inga Glaesel). Johanna’s biggest success has been at the International Competition for Pianists, Violinists and Cellists ‘Young Musician’ in Tallinn (Estonia) in 2009, where she won 2nd Prize. As part of the competition, Johanna was able to play with the Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tallinn – a real privilege.

She has appeared in concerts throughout Germany, from Ellwangen, Hamburg and Karlsruhe to Pforzheim and Zwickau.
