Lucas started playing the piano at the age of six. He took his first lessons with Frans Rutten and Aljosja Buijs and since 2007 he studies with Frank Peters. In 2010 he started participating in the 'Vooropleiding' of the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem, the Netherlands.
At the age of twelve Lucas won 2nd Prize at the Petrov Piano Competition. Later he participated several times in the Prinses Christina Concours, where, in 2010 he won the 1st Prize in his region, both as soloist as well as in duo-playing. In the same year he was a laureate in the finals of the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland, where he received the 'Stimuleringsprijs' and the 'AVRO Spiegelzaal Prijs'. For his interpretation of the Toccata per pianoforte by Theo Loevendie he won the special prize for contemporary Dutch music.
Lucas took master classes with piano teachers such as Ralph van Raat and Paolo Giacometti, and he is planning on taking lessons with Willem Brons in 2011.
Lucas regularly gives solo-recitals and performs with orchestras. In 2011 he was invited to play in the Spiegelzaal of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, live on radio.
In 2010 Lucas performed Le Carnaval des Animaux by Saint-Saëns with the Gelders Orkest, and in 2011 he will play the Concerto for Two Pianos by Francis Poulenc with the Orkest van het Oosten and together with Michael Xie. Furthermore in December 2011 Lucas will perform Beethoven's 2nd piano concerto on a tour with the Dutch orchestra 'Rotterdam Sinfonia'.
