Maria Filippova was born on October 3, 1999. She began playing the flute at the age of 7 at the Children’s Musical School N.3 of Nizhniy Novgorod in the class of Elena Zhelikhovskaya.

During her studies Maria became a laureate of the regional, all-Russia and international competitions more than once. Maria has taken part in numerous competitions with great success, such as:

- Grand Prix of the open Internet Contest of young musicians “My Favourite Flute”, (Russia, 2009);

- Winner of the «Azumi Magic Flutes» International Competition, (Germany, 2011)

- Diploma of the Semifinale of the International Russian Rotary Children Music Competition (Russia, 2012)

- Internet Music Champion of the World of Internet Music Competition, (Serbia, 2013)

- 3rd prize winner of the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians, (Russia, 2013)

- 1st prize of Concertino Praga. Prize for the best performance of the obligatory composition and the EMCY prize (Prague, 2014)

- 2nd prize winner of the Dutch International Flute Competition Students (bachelors), (Intervoort, Netherlands,2016)

Maria was a winner of region, all-Russia and international competitions as a member of the instrumental trio (flute, cello, piano)

Maria was a soloist at the concerts of the symphony orchestra of Moscow state Philharmonic Society, symphony orchestra of Czech radio, symphony orchestra of Nizhniy Novgorod state Philharmonic Society named after M. Rostropovitch, the Municipal chamber orchestra “Soloists of Nizhniy”, the Municipal chamber orchestra of Tuapse, the Municipal chamber orchestra of Kostroma.

She has attended diverse master classes with renowned flautists, such as Felix Renggli, Alexandra Grot, Nikolai Popov, Maxim Rubtsov, Tom Ottar Andreassen, Pierre-Yves Artaud, Adam Walker, Andrea Lieberknecht, Susan Milan, Emily Beynon, Matthias Ziegler, Wissam Boustany, Gareth McLearnon.

Maria is a holder of the City personal scholarship for gifted children, regional Pushkin scholarship, her name was listed into the encyclopedia “Gifted Children – Future of Russia” in 2011.

Now Maria studies in Moscow Gnessin Special Music School with teacher Ivusheikova Olga.
