Young Talents on Tour 2014

Marie was born in Bærum (Norway) and started playing the trombone at the age of four at the local music school with Astrid Nøkleby. She startet at Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo in 2007, and she is still a part of the talent programme there with Sverre Riise as her teacher.  At the moment she is also a 2nd year student at Rud Videregående Skole in the music program with Trond Elnes as trombone teacher.

Moreover, Marie is a member of different orchestras and ensembles, such as The Norwegian Youth Symphony Orchestra, Vestregionens Ungdomssymfonikere, Barratt Due Symphony Orchestra, the brass quartet ‘Trombonet’ and the trombone quartet ‘Bones4you’. She has participated in various project ensembles and has also arranged music and been leading the orchestra for a big musical theater at her school.

She has participated successfully in different competitions in the recent years winning the Sparre Olsen competition in 2011, Oslo og Akershusmesterskapet for solister (Regional competition in the Oslo area) in 2010 and 2011 and in 2013 she won 1st Prize and the EMCY Prize at the Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap as soloist and also in the ensemble category with the brass quartet ‘Trombonet’. Furthermore, she attended master classes with professors, such as Joseph Alessi, Michel Bequet, Jörgen van Rijen, Jesper Busk Sørensen, Ingemar Roos, Jacques Mauger, Don Lucas, Ralph Sauer, Håkan Björkman, Michel Mulcahy, Arnulf Naur Nilsen, Wolfgang Guggenberger, Fritz Damrow and Rex Martin.

Marie has performed as a soloist at the Arctic Trombone Festival in Tromsø, at the International Trombone Festival in Austin (Texas), with a recital at the first Festival National de Trombone in Paris and together with professor Jacques Mauger at the Rencontres Musicales des Monts Dore in France. Solo performances with orchestras and wind bands include Bærum Symphony Orchestra, Asker Symphony Orchestra and Asker Musikkorps (wind band). In 2013 Marie world premiered a new trombone concertino written for her by Kjell Marcussen together with Bærum Symphony Orchestra and in 2014 she is invited to perform as soloist with Oslo University Symphony Orchestra and at Nordland Musikkfestuke.
