Martin was born in Linz (Austria) and started taking euphonium lessons at the age of eight at the local music school in Altenberg near Linz with Hans Peter Gaiswinkler. Three years later he finished his education in euphonium and went on to the trombone.

In 2001 he took music lessons at the Musikgymnasium Linz and attended a preparatory course at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Professor Dietmar Küblböck and Professor Otmas Gaiswinkler. After passing his Matura (school leaving examination) at the Musikgymnasium in 2006 he started his instrumental studies as a degree programme student with Professor Dietmar Küblböck and Professor Mark Gaal.

Martin has participated successfully in different competitions in recent years such as the Austrian national competitions 'Prima la musica' and 'Musica Juventutis'. At the KlassikPreis.Österreich Gradus ad Parnassum 2011 which took place in Graz (Austria) he received 1st prize in the category trombone. Furthermore, he attended master classes with professors such as Horst Küblböck, Wolfgang Pfistermüller, Stefan Schulz, Joseph Alessi and Leonhard Paul.

He gained his orchestral experiences as a member of the Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra giving concerts at the Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper Vienna and the Linzer Landestheater. In 2008 he was engaged as trombone and bass trombone player at the Volksoper Vienna where he is 1st trombonist since 2010.
