Sebastiaan started his conservatoire education in 2008 in Rotterdam with Pierre Volders, Remko de Jager and Jörgen van Rijen. He followed numerous master classes with among others Joseph Alessi, Michel Becquet, Ben van Dijk, Bart van Lier and Hendrik-Jan Renes. He also won various prizes for example at the 'Prinses Christina Concours' and 'Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland'. In this last competition he was awarded the title of Dutch Young Musician of the Year 2010 by an international jury.

Sebastiaan regularly performs as a soloist and is a member of brass trio Scherzo, the Erasmus Trombone Quartet and the Codarts Brass Ensemble. He has a wide experience in orchestral playing. Last winter he participated in the winter tour of the Dutch Youth Orchestra (NJO). He often plays on an incidental basis in professional orchestras and ensembles such as the New Trombone Collective, Het Brabants Orkest and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2008 Sebastiaan is also chairman and founder of the Nieuw Kamer Orkest, a new chamber orchestra for conservatory students.
