The mezzo-soprano Sophie Rennert was born in Graz (Austria) and started taking violin and piano lessons at the age of five at the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatoire in Graz. In 2002 she began her voice studies with her mother Sigrid Rennert, a singing teacher and a soprano in her own right. Furthermore, she was a member of the TaO! (Theatre at the Ortwein Square, Graz) for two years. In 2008 she passed her Matura (school leaving examination) with distinction at the Ursulinen private school in Graz. Since autumn 2008 she has studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Prof. Karlheinz Hanser. Two years later she received her first diploma with distinction. As part of the Eppaner Liedsommer (Summer of Song festival in Eppan, Germany) she participated in a master class with Brigitte Fassbaender.

Several times Sophie became 1st Prize winner at the Österreichische Jugendmusikwettbewerbe Prima la Musica. In 2011 she received 1st Prize, KlassikPreis.Österreich 2011 and EMCY Prize at the KlassikPreis.Österreich Gradus ad Parnassum. In January 2012 she was awarded 1st Prize at Musica Juventutis and has therefore been invited to give a recital at the Vienna Konzerthaus during the concert season 2012/13.

In 2007 and 2009 within the Serenades in Bruck an der Mur (Germany) she was onstage as Croûte-au-pot from 'Mesdames de la Halle' by J. Offenbach and as Bastien from 'Bastien und Bastienne' by W. A. Mozart. At the Neue Studiobühne in Vienna she performed the Diana from 'Iphigenie auf Tauris' by C. W. Gluck in 2010 and the Celia from 'La fedeltà premiata' by J. Haydn in 2011. Furthermore in 2011, she presented the character Mrs. Noah from 'Die Sintflut' by B. Britten at the Kunsthaus Muerz and was the lead character in a staged version of the oratorio 'Susanna' by G. F. Händel in the Schönbrunner Schlosstheater.

She has also performed concerts and sacred music in numerous engagements both at home and abroad.
